Mike + Lisa | September 15, 2012 | Vancouver Wedding Photographer

“Let’s do it, let’s fall in love!”  And love this wedding we did; how could you not?  Mike and Lisa’s big day was all urban charm and chic class, from the classic carriage whisking the party across Maple Ridge to the smallest details, the charming Natural Rooibus Tea favours and petits fours beneath a live tapestry of the sun setting on apple trees.  We arrived at the family home the morning of to find Lisa, her bridesmaid (Laura, sister), and family relaxing around a plethora of rich makeup colours and custom designed cupcakes made by the maid-of-honor herself. Shortly thereafter, Mike and his groomsman (James, brother) arrived with Mike’s parents to get the wedding preparations in full swing.  After a romantic first look beneath the backyard gazebo, the wedding party piled into a classic Buick, restored personally by Lisa’s dad for her big day, and cruised down to the canals for some creative shots.  A short skip away, “The Field of Dreams” wedding ceremony and reception venue awaited as family and friends were seated before the ceremony alter overlooking koi-filled ponds and water fountain features.  I have to say that the large white canopy tent was a terrific feature, acting as a shadow art tapestry following the setting sun in form while sheltering guests from the glare of the sun during cocktail hour and dinner in function.  I little light exercise followed a toast by the bride and groom (and a touching moment where Lisa gave her bouquet to her grandmother) in the form of cheerleading lifts, something so fantastically unique that I won’t expect to see again at a wedding anytime soon!  After dinner and mingling with family and friends, Mike and Lisa stole away from the guests games of bocce ball to share an intimate dance in the tall field grass against the setting sun.  Arriving once more to the party, Mike and Lisa shared their first dance as a married couple in front of family and friends to get the night life started before James and I were introduced for the first time to the South Korean pop-culture hit Gangnam style!  Congratulations Mike and Lisa, may the future continue to bring to you two the joy and beauty we witnessed that day!
